Winery Spotlight: 3 of the Best Wineries in the Dahlonega, GA Region

In our previous blog post, we talked about some of our favorite wineries in Ellijay, GA. Aside from Ellijay, there are many excellent wineries across North Georgia, known for their ambiance, mountain views, and fantastic homegrown wines. A frequent region of North Georgia that we commonly take tour groups to is in the Dahlonega and Cleveland wine regions. This area of North Georgia is scenic and home to some of the best wineries in the southeast. Here are three of our favorite wineries in Dahlonega and Cleveland, GA.

Montaluce Winery & Restaurant

Montaluce Winery is a must-visit winery in Dahlonega. They offer an excellent dining experience, and the architecture is definitely something to marvel at. The original building is a Tuscan Villa with an upscale dining facility, and it features beautiful views from the second and third floors.

The second facility is called Trattoria di Montaluce, which is very popular with our wine tour groups. Trattoria di Montaluce has delicious culinary dishes such as pizzas, salads, and pastas. It also has a full cocktail bar where the bartenders make a fabulous espresso martini! According to our wine tour expert and founder, Orson Hall, this is the only winery in Georgia that has a full cocktail bar. He says that guests swarm to this facility during football season due to the restaurant’s multiple televisions above the bar!

Cavender Creek Vineyard & Winery

Cavender Creek Vineyard and Winery was purchased by Claire Livingston from the previous owners who had a small farm building where they made small batches of wine. Claire has built a new wine-tasting facility and a second facility for private events. This winery has both indoor and outdoor seating, and it is almost always overflowing with wine-tasting guests.

Additionally, our tour groups really enjoy the wines that Cavender Creek offers. Lynn, the manager, is a gracious host with an excellent customer service staff. Cavender Creek also has a selection of light snacks for purchase to make the wine-tasting experience even more enjoyable.

Yonah Mountain Vineyards

Yonah Mountain Vineyards is a standout winery located in Cleveland, GA, which is relatively close to the Dahlonega area. This winery has a wonderful ambiance with arguably some of the best wines in North Georgia. It has an impressive circular bar, a relaxing breezeway, weekend live music, and a wonderful event facility.

The wines at Yonah Mountain Vineyards are fan-favorites of our tour guests. A tip from Orson is to buy a bottle or two of wine, instead of purchasing flights, to get more for your money. One more thing to note about Yonah Mountain Vineyards is that they host a very popular wine event called "Crush Fest" in the late summer.
